When someone comes to me with lower back pain, my first strategy is of course chiropractic adjusting. In probably 80% of the cases I see, the problem turns out to be physical restriction of some of the spinal joints, and the chiropractic adjustment works very well to remove that restriction and the pain goes away. In some cases however, things are a little more complicated. If there is a significant amount of inflammation and swelling around the joints (with or without restriction), then chiropractic care will not show immediate results. In cases like these laser therapy is extremely helpful. I have had several cases in which no improvement was seen with chiropractic adjustments, but the pain decreased very quickly when we started laser. Laser therapy uses light energy to penetrate deeply into soft the soft tissues of the body and decrease inflammation, promote healing and speed up cellular processes. What ever type of therapy we use for you, the goal is to get you out of pain as fast as possible!
